n this paper, the effect of foreign sector macro-variable on inflation dynamics and firms’ pricing behavior has been investigated in the context of a small open economy New Keynesian Phillips Curve. This curve is derived and estimated for a developing oil-exporting economy suffering from Dutch Disease. This version of NKPC is an extension of Leith and Malley’ s (2007) small open economy NKPC incorporating oil as a factor of production which is produced in the home country, but its price is determined by the world market. Using GMM technique, this curve has been estimated for standard closed and open economy specifications of the Iranian economy that, according to the empirical evidence, suffers from Dutch Disease. Introducing open economy elements produces three differences in the estimation compared to the closed version: firstly, the degree of price stickiness and the fraction of backward-looking firms decrease; secondly, the degree of substitutability is close to unity; and thirdly, the forward-looking behavior gains ground while the backward-looking behavior becomes less important. Moreover, the significant estimates of the marginal cost coefficient confirm the importance of the real marginal cost in explaining inflation dynamics in the Iranian economy.

This study deals with the question of whether the inflow of migrant remittances causes Dutch Disease or not in India. For this purpose, the study employs the Autoregressive Distributed Lag Model (ARDL) to examine the influence of migrant remittances on the real effective exchange rate spanning the period from 1975 to 2018. In the long run, the study finds a positive relationship between migrants’ remittances and the real effective exchange rate, meaning that evidence of Dutch Disease risk in India. The study also checks the moderating effect of inflation on remittances and real effective exchange rate relationship and finds a negative effect. The study recommends that the government of India would implement and design the policies for the diversification of remittances flow toward priority areas of investment.

Various communities in various periods have encountered with the events with unique features and the theorists of these communities to recognize these new phenomena attempted to conceptualize and theorize them based on various theoretical systems. Under cultural and political dominance of western modernity in the form of academic discourses in non-western countries, in non-academic layers of these countries and mostly by the Intellectualswith more relationship with social context, it forms as prior form of new concepts and theorizing in social field. Oil issue and its social outcomes in contemporary Iran is the thought issue of many social Intellectualsand theorists. Dutch Disease as a condition in which the oil-sale revenue is dedicated to unduly import of goods and creation of false increasing demand is one of the outcomes of oil issue in contemporary Iran and it has been investigated for years before 60s decade in European Netherland by Iranian Intellectuals. The present study attempted to analyze two works of the Intellectualsdetecting the risk of this Disease as directive and consciously or indirectly by interpretive method in the form of objective hermeneutic method. These two Intellectualsare Jalal Al-e-Ahmad and Mohammad Ebrahim Bastani Parizi who referred to Dutch Disease in the book of "Plagued by the West" (Gharbzadegi) and “ Desert epic” (Hemaseye Kavir) respectively, but in the other terms and notions and some of outcomes of this phenomenon were also mentioned.

This study empirically investigated remittances’ short-run and long-run effects on actual exchange rates. Further, it examined the impact of remittances on resource movement from the tradable to the nontradable sector in the CFA franc and non-CFA zones of sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). A panel-based, Pooled Mean Group estimation technique was adopted to estimate the data collected from 1981 to 2018 for 26 SSA countries which comprise 15 non-CFA and 11 CFA countries. Both aggregate (SSA) and disaggregated (CFA franc and non-CFA) analyses were conducted. The data utilized were collected from the World Bank’s World Development Indicator and International Monetary Fund’s International Financial Statistics database. Evidence from the results indicated that remittances inflow led to real exchange rate appreciation in the CFA zone. However, the effect of remittances on the real exchange rate in the non-CFA zone is not statistically significant. Moreover, while remittances caused a shift of resources from tradable to nontradable sector in the CFA zone, in the long run, there is no substantial evidence that remittances would lead to resource movement from tradable to nontradable sector in the non-CFA zone. Thus, in the CFA zone, effective policies need to be implemented to channel remittances towards investment in agriculture and industry (tradable sector) to reduce the negative impact of remittances in the industry.
